Slowly, Slowly

Today was a good day, but I was distracted and didn't accomplish as much as I hoped to. Well, there's tomorrow. If you could see this in person the layers would be evident. I know it looks crowded and busy, but that's how spring is. Lots of seeds and growth. And robins.

This is another piece I've been working on for the show, but I can't figure out where to go here. I like parts of it like they are, but I'm not satisfied with it as a whole.  I've found myself scratching marks into the paint, some get painted over but that's ok. For some reason little ladders and circles keep appearing (below).

These are great Deborah. The top one doesn't look crowded at all. I love the combination of the layered background with the more controlled painted bird.

The second painting doesn't need much at all. I think it rather works in its simplicity. Great colours and composition. Maybe some very light washes of the orange/red you used in the circles. Just a few layers of light washes is all it needs I reckon.

Good job, keep going.

I agree with Uta. No crowding, there. Love the whole concept of spring in your painting. The graphic nature of parts of the work along with the painting make for an interesting composition.
