Out With the Old......

There has been no work posted because I've been trying to straighten out my studio. Yesterday and today I spent hours in there, and I can tell you.....my cats have been seriously offended that I moved their scratching box. Well, hmmmpf!!

It's very frustrating to try to do the things that would be so easy if I could stand up and walk. Several times I've just about fallen out of my chair when I was reaching for things, but because of past experiences, I know how far I can reach. I think, with the help of my cleaning ladies tomorrow, I'll have everything in a more user friendly place.

While I've been doing nothing, I've been lurking around some cool art sites. Geesh. Hours can pass before I realize what has happened. It's just so riveting to read about other artists and see their work. I've discovered two very creative and different artists, well, actually, they are kind of like each other in their drawings. But you just have to see them!

The first is Jen Stark, and she has done some mind boggling things with construction paper, and look at her drawings, too. I just love them. Watch the video at the top of her page.
The other artist is named Yellena. Her drawings are almost other worldly. Her shapes are sometimes  organic, sometimes just unbelievable! Evidently she has gotten lots of attention. I think she is an fulltime illustrator.

I'm still working on my portrait for Different Strokes From Different Folks. It needs some minor adjustments and then I think I'll be pretty happy with it.

Your studio is looking great. Thanks for the links to the artist's blogs. You are right, both are amazing!

Geez Deb, I don't know...I spruced my studio up for Open Studios in November but it could really stand to be cleaned again...and I thought, I'll just stay ahead of it....sigh...anway, I love the portrait you are working on. I am headed to Florida next month and I think I will bring colored pencils instead of paints...you've definitely inspired me!

Thanks for the warm welcome Deborah. I love that you were an art teacher. Some of my favorite teachers taught art. Your words of encouragement mean a lot and I am looking forward to seeing your DSFDF portrait soon. hugs....

Deb, your studio is impeccable compared to mine! I always explain to my husband that in comparison to his world, mine pretty much ends about a foot above my head so I have to spread things a little more horizontal than he prefers lol

And although I graduated from stroller to wheelchair, I still manage to fall. But I think it's because overachievers like us will always want to push our luck don't you think?

I love Yellena's images! That is my idea of creative! Her work somehow reminds me of your abstract ones. I'm sure if you were to have a show together your works would look completely unique from each other though.

I can't believe I finished my DSDF, I'm usually lagging behind. But then mine was more play than what you're doing. Well get it done so we can all see it with the rest of the portraits! Unless you want to clean up my art room when you're done with yours? Happy New Year!!!
