Practice. That's exactly what I've been doing and I'm posting my feeble attempts for the world to see. And mainly so I can have a record of my progress. I have so much to learn! So while I keep practicing with acrylics, you can be sure I'm still going to be at work with my colored pencils.
This is one of the paintings I did today. I've had these shells for weeks, meaning to photograph them, so today they posed for me. This was forty minutes of intense work, then I had to leave it. I think forty minutes must be my attention span. Gee, I didn't realize it was that long! All of the acrylic paintings are 8x10 because I got a good deal on some panels and I bought two dozen.
This was yesterday's attempt. It's my good old crock, who has posed for me many times, but for colored pencil pieces only. I stopped after thirty minutes.
Aaaaarrrgh!! OK. I tried. I mean, nobody's perfect, right? This was from a photo.
I've seen other artists show their workspaces or studios, so here is mine. It's very small, but I love it. It's unbelievably messy, but it's perfect for me. The only thing I don't have is a sink, and that's a real problem for me because carrying water and pushing a wheelchair don't work so well together. Otherwise, perfect! ( Look! Do you see the laundry basket of frames under the table?)

These pieces are really great! I love the textures and loose colors. And I really like how the apple (tomato?) by the crock pops out.
Thank you for posting a picture of your workspace! What a great studio! It has a lot of creative energy, and the portraits on the wall are divine. Whenever I was in the middle of a big project, you couldn't even see the floor because of the huge mess I made. But I still knew where everything was, and I can't work any other way. My workspace now is just a modified kitchen hutch and a tall stool. Whenever I want to use the wacom, I have to take my laptop to the kitchen table. I dream of the day I can have a studio like yours!
Looks like you accomplished alot in 40 minutes! Keep painting with your acrylics, you are doing a great job. Your studio is also really cool; I love seeing other studio spaces, and for the neatness factor...well I keep trying but mine still has a long way to go in that department!
Your studio space looks cozy and user friendly. I'd totally be able to work there!
