Poppies, Days One and Two

Here are some of the little poppy studies I've been working on. This is totally for practice, an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone. After using acrylics, I also went over them with some pens, oil pastels, and markers. They are so unlike my style, but that's good. I always want to have a detailed drawing to work over, but this time I didn't. Tomorrow.....more poppies. But more close up.

Nice studies, Deborah.

I like the bottom one the best. The sky blue in the upper right corner helps bring out the reds.

Thanks, Dean. That's my favorite, too.

Really great, Deborah. I think it's so cool that you just jump in and experiment with multiple media and push beyond your normal style. Also, that you gave yourself one subject to focus on for the week. love these!

Hi Deborah,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm glad today's message gave you the needed lift. It's not always easy to talk oneself out of a slump, but when you put your mind to it, it happens and great things occur! Keep going :)

Love the vibrancy you captured in these poppies. They are painted like someone who loves flowers, but I read your confession first.
