I Love My Independence

If you are looking at this, please leave a comment...I need and welcome criticism. And suggestions. Thanks.

Cooper, Perry, and I have had a very relaxing day, as you can see. Cooper loves to purr loudly when I come to the computer because he knows I can't ignore his big, fluffy tail in my face and he'll get some petting.

Actually I've been very busy working on this chair piece, and remember, it's 20x16. I feel very free and loose as I'm working on this. Hmmm. I don't know why. Usually I'm a control freak with my pencils. Maybe I'm having a middle age breakthrough!

Hi Deborah,

I found my way to your blog via Felicity's blog and I'm glad I did. Your work is fantastic! I look forward to seeing more. :)

Thanks for the compliments on my portrait for Katrina. I was told that it brought a tear to the son's eye to see his mother's face again. It doesn't get more rewarding than that when it comes to portraits. I honestly have to say that I liked this chair piece in it's unfinished state (as depicted here) more than the final product. There's a boldness about the negative space that causes the viewer to consider it for minutes on end. Also, it is dynamic and full of contrast thanks to the deliberate pencil marks and bright colors. But everyone has his/her own opinion. I often look back on finished paintings of mine and wish that I had stopped working on them at an earlier point. It's crazy, I know! - Jared
